July 9, 2008 & September 9, 2008 Troy University, Vangerowstrasse 18/1 69115 Heidelberg, Germany This round table, held jointly by MaxMetrics and TROY, offered insights into a survey analysis, relevant literature and interview cases to reveal how to establish an effective business intelligence organization and provided considerations about the organizational authorities and responsibilities.  
The Research While most organizations have invested in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Analytical software many are struggling to use the software to maximize their organizational performance. A January 2008 research study on Decision-making Using Systems & Technology shows that organizations with an internal unit that helps people use software in decision-making a business intelligence competency center contributed to improvements the organizations business performance, increased collaboration between business and IT units, increased user satisfaction with business intelligence software and solutions, as well as lowered the cost of ownership for business intelligence software. The research consisted of 529 respondents from 50 countries representing 30 industries completed an internet survey. Executive interviews using critical incidents were conducted with 10 respondents to determine success factors qualitatively. The survey was conducted by Troy University Heidelberg, Germany Site. During his educational career, he has been Professor of Business and Management at University of Maryland - Europe, Dean of Sacred Heart University Luxembourg, and Dean of the European Region for Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. He has worked as a full-time researcher, leading sponsored projects in public policy at the American Institutes for Research. He earned his Doctorate at Northwestern University.
