Analytical functionality integrated with existing and deployed business applications such as Enterprise Resource Planning or Customer Relationship Management applications is referred to as Embedded Analytics or Embedded Business Intelligence (BI).

According to Aberdeen report, survey respondents reported the top objective for embedded BI is to increase the speed of adoption and ease-of-use of analytical tools. Other objectives include improving processes and culture, better usage of analytical tools, and tailoring analytical functionality to business needs. According to the study, companies that have embedded analytics have reported “improvements in the cycle time of their key business processes over the past year”.
