When the Best Project Decision Isn’t Obvious: The Project Win Game™ at ECGBL 2026

What do Real Options and Moral AI have in common?

At first glance, perhaps not much. One is a quantitative approach to making investment decisions under uncertainty. The other asks project teams to confront difficult questions about AI, ethics, stakeholder impact, and responsibility. But both present project managers with the same fundamental challenge:

How do you make a good decision when the consequences are uncertain — and when there may not be one obviously “right” answer?

Our presentation explores this challenge through gamification. Using extensions of The Project Win Game™, we turn these complex concepts into decisions that participants can experience through gameplay—making choices, confronting trade-offs, and seeing how their decisions affect what happens next. The game applies this approach to both Real Options and Moral AI, demonstrating how serious games can make complex quantitative and qualitative project decisions tangible.

Our presentation is at the 20th European Conference on Games Based Learning (ECGBL 2026) at Technische Universität Darmstadt, Germany.
